BRITAIN AND DOMINIONS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Nov. 19. The committee of the Federation .of British .Industries, in a letter to Sir Philip Lloyd-Graeme (President of the Board of Trade), urges that representations should he made to the Australian and New Zealand Governments to modify the 75 per cent preferential tariff over a wide range of commodities. Some are of wholly British origin, while the others comply with the regulations in spirit, but hot in letter, where goods are partially manufactured _ elsewhere and. are finished in Britain. Australia and Now Zealand should define the term “raw material” to include material produced within the Empire. The committee suggests the deletion of the 50 per cent regulation relating to goods manufactured in Britain from materials not available in Britain .if similar goods are manufactured in Australia or New Zealand.
