KEEN COMPETITION.
AT ATHLETIC SPORTS. DUNBAR’S GOOD JUMP. There was a record' attendance at the show grounds last night,< when, an electric light sports carnival was held under the auspices of the Egmont A. and P. Association aiid tjjp Hawera Amateur Athletic Club. - The competitors displayed good form, and - an interesting programme of , events was witnessed- A - team of athletes- from Wanganui was present, and they sue-, ceeded in taking the honours in the 100 yards maiden, the 100 yards handicap and the 120 yards hurdles, handicap. E. Y.. Dunoar, who has represented Britain at the Olympic games, proved a greak attraction, and was loudly applauded when he cleared sft 6in in the high jump, considered a very good jump at night. Amongst the cyclists Tippett put' up good performances. He won the mile cycle off 90 yards, and ran third in the two miles. . arrangements in connection with the meeting were carried out in a most efficient manner by the .officials, the joint secretaries, Messrs G. H. Weir and W. G. Watts, deserving special commendation.

Low. W. Watts, and J. Davies. All the items were greatly appreciated, as. were Mr Laidlaw’s comic sketches.
