PAVILION WANTED.
BY PARK TENNIS PLAYERS. COUNCIL GRANTS PERMISSION. Permission to erect a pavilion oh of near the grounds at present occupied by them was asked of the Hawera Borough Council last night by a depiitation from King Edward Park Tennis Club. The ’ deputation, which consisted of Messrs T. Kururangi and Yearbury, said they had not yet decided on a site, but they wanted the council’s approval to the scheme so that a site suitable to the council and to themselves could be allotted f!l 3? e + . May ? r l , (Mr - b A - Bone) Said mat the club members must understand that the building would become the property of the borough. The deputation intimated that they quite understood the* position The pavilion would be an asset to the park and a great benefit to the players Cr. Osborne said that the club had a membership of 104, and a pavilion would result in a progressive move for tennis in Hawera.
Ci. Burdekin thought the scheme a very useful one, and lie agreed that the council should give every assistance to a club which 'was willing to go to- the length of raising funds to present _ the community with «ueh a building.
_ Oil the motion of Cr.s. O'sborne and Burdekin, it was decided to grant the P® r ™' ss^ori asked, and on the motion of Crs. Morrissey and Brunette it was decided to refer the matter of a site to the Reserves Committee.
