MANAIA.

BOY SCOUTS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The annual meeting of the local troop was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Monday night. - District Commander Horner and Mr Evans, of the Haw era Scout Committee, were present. The Scoutmaster’s report was of an encouraging nature, and the balancesheet showed that the. organisation w*as in a, very sound financial position. The election of officers resulted in' last year’s committee being re-elected, with Mr A. G. Bennett as chairman and the Rev. A. C. Swainson as secretary and treasurer.

After the business of the meeting was finished, the District. Commissioner gave a most helpful and, interesting talk to the assembled Scouts; particularly urging' them to try and qualify, by their efficiency, for a trip to Dunedin to take part in the big Scout Jamboree which is to be held at the South Seas Exhibition in January, 1926. During the evening the Scouts gave a demonstration of Scout work, which was a. revelation to the adults present, and slioavs lioav Avell and carefully the boys have, been trained by their Scoutmaster, Rev. J. D. Smith. Light refreshments, kindly provided by the ladies, brought the meeting to a close.
