Wonderful- results ih restoring vigor to prematurely aged people are claimed, in the “Theory and Practice of the Wilham Heinemann. London, in which are described oiterations carried out b\ Dr. Peter Schmidt, of Berlin, who worked with Dr. Steinach, of Vienna. The operation is a substitute for the transplantation of “monkey glands,” and consists of the tying of" one of the glands of the body. In a typical case described, a man of 61 complained of backache, langour, depression and loss of memory. After an operation he declared that ‘ ( joy in life and work had returned. Three years later he .reported that he was working 16 hours a day without fatigue. „Dr. J. J. Abraham, surgeon to the Kensington and Lock Hospitals, slates m an introduction to the English .edition that “a. marked physical and mental rejuvenation does follow in selected cases. Cases have remained improved now for over over five years.’
