SABBATH DESECRATION.

— THE LURE OF THE MOTOR. DISCUSSED BY CHURCHMEN. DUNEDIN. Nov. 0. At a meeting of the Dunedin PresI bytery the question ol increasing Sabbath desecration, due largely to "facilities oifered hv motor caps, was discussed. One speaker said when people got motor cars their loyalty to the Sabbath. was affected. He was not referring to ministers, but to ordinary people. He was not going to sav that every man who took his children out on a Sunday in a motor car was •breaking the Sabbath, but he contended that in ma.nv cases it made it impossible for children to attend church. Another speaker thought the matter should be brought under notive of the people by means of a manifesto from the Assembly. In Scotland a manifesto had been issued by all Scottish churches, and lie thought that something on the .same lines should he done here. He regretted that there wa.s a growing laxity on the part of the church people themselves. The matter was eventually referred to the Public Questions Committee? foi further consideration.
