MANUTAHI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Tuesday evening a farewell social and euchre party was tendered iii the hall to Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ward, of the firm of Carter and Sons. After a residence of five years they are leaving for New Plymouth, to “fresh fields and •pastures new.” The early part of the evening was devoted to cards, the winners proving Mrs. Ward and Mr. Hancock. Songs and dancing were indulged in for the rest of the evening. During the interval, after a good supper provided by-the ladies had been partaken of, Mr. D. W. Schwass (who presided) in a neat speech presented the guests of the evening with a barometer for Mr. Ward and a. salad bowl to Mrs. War'd as tokens of their goodwill. Mr, Ward feelingly responded and thanked them. The music was supplied by local talent. The many friends of Mrs. Muggeridge,. who has been ill in Hawera, will be pleased to hear that she is home again. Miss Rawson (New Plymouth) has lately been visiting her relatives at Homebush, Manutahi. The Education Board is at last having some repairs and improvements done to the local school and the teacher’s residence. Very little in the way of repairs has been done for a long time. As the buildings ar© very old the Department- is loth to do much.
