Members expressed their appreciation of the Ifep.irtmeiit’s action. The chairman asked members to try individually to secure as many entries for rnango.ds, carrots, swedes, and lucerne competitions as possible. In tiiis way it was hoped to increase interest and afford keener competition.’ Considerable discussion took place re Lop-weight basis fixed by various bacon ’companies purchasing pigs. This matter, with the iow price paid, namely, o.Vfb, is, from the larmeis’ ooint of vie.\, \erv unsatisfactory. The secretary (Mr -J. 1 fakers) informed the meeting that the union organiser (M.r MeAlpine) would at some future date re-visit this district and complete the canvassing. All preparations-for the euchre party and dance in aid of the Town queen, to be held in the Kapuni Hal! on Friday night promises to be a great success. Ail arrangements are well in hand. The maiden and o]ien waltzing competition will he well contested, and a good evening’s enjoyment is assured. Creat preparations for the tug-of-war, to be Jieiri in aid of the sports’ queen in the Manaia Town HalL on Wednesday, I.2th. and Friday. 14th, aie well in hand. The different contests will be well worth going a long way to see. A bumner house is assured.
