IEY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. r™ DUNEDTN, Noy. 6. liie Chamber of Commerce has Z l rT' 1 Mr - Massey , the following: The Council of the Chamber understands that the Finance Bill, making a clause in the mortgages section, protecting mortgagees against the provision ■ of section 80 of the PublicTrust Amendment Act, 1921, is illegal and the Council strongly protests against this, and considers such protection of the Public Trustee and estates involves a breach, of contract, "and that mortgagees are justified m protecting themselves against, such a reduction in security.”
