HAWERA CLUB COMPETITIONS. On Saturday afternoon the A Buttons match was again played, when the holders were able to defeat the challengers after a very good game, this making the fourteenth consecutive win. The challenging rink was Wills, Payne, Burgess, Robertson 17; holders, MasPoole, .Adamson, Hulbert 29. The B Buttons match was also played, when two rinks elected to try conclusions to find a holder, as the previous jiolders had ha ndecl in the button! last season so as to play against the holders of the A Buttons. A ' close game ended with the following result: Jell,. Watts, J. Hall, Burdekin 21: Old, Haggett, Hobbs, Squire 20. BANNER MATCH. The first Banner match of the season was played yesterday afternoon, when the A team (Wednesday players) met the B team (Saturday‘players) on the local green. The game was keenly fought out, and the margin of difference in the aggregate throughout the play was very slight, being in favoui °f A team. At the conclusion ol the 25 heads played the score war equal, 97 all. This necessitated ar extra- head; being played all round. The final head went in favour of the I 1 team by the small margin of one point, tne total scores being:- A team, 99; ]• team, 100. The first of the Banner fixtures was pjlaved on the Manaia green yesterday afternoon between Park and Manaia, and resulted in a win for Manaia- bv 38 points, the totals being: Park “79 Manaia 117. In the colts’ match the 1 ark rmk easily defeated Manaia bv 21 points—Park 33, Manaia 12. The green was in excellent order, and reflects great credit on the custodian. Mr James Hickey, president of the Manaia Club, welcomed the Park team and hoped they would have a good at tei noon’s enjoyment. A splendid atternoon tea was provided by th'e ladies, which was much appreciated by all present. At the conclusion Mr btannard, president of the Park Club heartily thanked the Manaia howlers tor the splendid afternoon’s snort and the hospitality shown to them, and complimented the club on the fine green provided He also thanked the ladies tor the afternoon tea, and called tor three cheers for the Manaia Club and the ladies.
