THE ROYAL SHOW.
MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY. TARANAKI ENTRIES. (By Our Own Reporter.) PALMERSTON N., Nov. 5. Lovely weather favoured the opening of the first Royal Show. The event has created the livest interest in farming circles all over the Dominion. There was a very large attendance of leading breeders from all parts. It is very disappointing that there are not more Taranaki champions present. Those shown, however, stand well in comparison in quality. All breeds are of extremely good quality and numbers. It is certain the competition will be exceptionally keen, aiid that the work of the judges, which is bow proceeding, will be very heavy and difficult. It is regretted also that Leppers great cow, Elf’s Beauty, is suffering from a bad quarter was not brought down. J. C. Wright (Matapu) exhibits one cow and F. Mills (Tokaora) a fine team of Ayrshires. All are looking in the piiik of condition. j. O’Shea has a fine bull, a\ Friesian. Kirktyood (Stratford) and O’Sullivan aiid Sons have several good entries. Thos. Perry (Mangatbki) brought his best and scored third with Fayne Segis Galatea in the Alfa-Laval Cup competition in Tespect to dairy points iii a very strong class, in which the keenest interest was taken. Some of H. 3D. Johnson’s stock;, cows and heifers, were entered by the present owners, Hammond, of Ohakune. Horses make a very strong class m all sections. Hunter Estate had a number of fine entries, but competition was very keen. Hacks and harness horses were all extremely strong and of good quality. Beef breeds were exceptionally strong and of good quality. Generally speaking the display in all classes, ■ especially the dairy section, was one of the best ever seen on a show ground. The difficulties ’of transport, however, kept away many Well-known champions. Railway and road troubles delayed the. arrival of , many entries, atid also of the judges. Therefore the judges were somewhat ; late arriving. , Every thing points to the very greati ©st success. THE RESULTS.
