STRATFORD SHOW.

, The annual spring show of the Stratford A. and P. Association * which will be held at Stratford on November 26 and 27. \ is; creating a great deal of interest in the district. A special feature in the horse section will be the trophy presented by Mr s . E. P. Symes for the open hunters’ event. Several alterations have been made in this section, which is on similar lines to last year, when such large entries were attracted. In the pedigree Jersey classes of the cattle section the Stratford Jersey Cattle Club has instituted several new classes, in addition to which Mrs. S. A. Gadsby has presented a magnificent tea service for the best yearling heifer. This trophy will become the absolute property of the winning exhibitor. Special attention is drawn to the arrangements made bv the committee whereby, in cases of classes being so .large that confusion might be caused in the ring, they will be judged ,in sections. The Friesian display at the 1923 show was considered to- be. the best south of the line, and it is hoped that Taranaki breeders will help to maintain the high standard set on that occasion.

In the Shorthorn section a trophy valued at £lO 10s has been donated by Mr. J. Petrie for the exhibitor gaining most points, and • a trophy of similar value has been given by the Taranaki Ayrshire breeders for the most points in the Ayrshire section. A special series of classes for Red Polls has been inserted. Two; special classes have been included in the grade Jersey section, for animals which are qualified and passed for record in the Taranaki highgrade utility Jersey Breeders’ Association’s herd book. Mr. B. W. Harvey’s trophy for most points will also be open for competition. The crossbred section has several new points of interest for farmers, amongst which is the trophy presented by the Wanganui Fresh Food Company for the best dairy cow' of any breed. The sheep section has been thoroughly revised and brought into line with other A. and P. Associations, while the pig section is of great interest to farmers.
