TENNIS.

HAWERA AND PARK CLUBS. The official opening of the Hawera Tennis and Croquet Club, which was to have taken place last Saturday, had again to be postponed owing to unsuitable weather. Although the. sun came out brilliantly in the morning, the downpour during the previous days had made the ground too heavy, and it was a very ivise decision on the committee’s part not to allow play. The committee has decided to allow play on the courts in the meantime, and it is hoped that the weather will be fine towards the end of this week so that .the official opening can take place on Saturday next. With the courts in excellent condition members are looking forward to a very enjoyable season. A large number of members of the Park Club indulged in practice games on Saturday, braving the unpleasantness of the strong cold wind. It i.s indeed a good sign, which shows the keenness everyone has to get into form.
