WANGANUI V. TARANAKI. GOOD WIN FOR LATTER. On the Waiwakaiho links was played on Saturday the annual match between the two provinces, and after a series of capital matches Taranaki secured a substantial win by a' margin of eight matches on the singles and three on the four-ball matches. Very keen anticipation was felt in the meeting of Leo Quin and J. Goss, after their great struggle at the amateur championships, and the result was a win by the narrowest of margins for the holder of the title. Both played good golf, Quin going round in 77 and Goss in 78. At the ninth Quin was one up, and this he maintained to the seventeenth, making bim-dormy. A half at the last hole gave him the match. The cards were as follow: Quin—Out: 4,4, 4,7, 4,5, 3,6, 4—41. In: 3,4, 3, 4,'3, 6,3, 4 6 36. Total: 77. \ Goss.—Out: 5,5, 4,6, 6,5, 3,' 4, 4- —42. In: 4,5, 2,3, 4,5, 34 6 36. Total 78. SINGLES.
