OPERA HOUSE, TO-NIGHT. “DICK TURPIN’S RIDE TO YORK.” Every British born man, woman, and child has either read or heard of Dick Turpin and his famous mare. Black Bess, and has thrilled at their marvellous exploits. The stunts put over by the gunmen, cowboys, etc., in the American films are. mediocre in comparison with the sensational ride of Dick Turpin on Black Bess, his bonnie mare. This wonderful horse is probably the only one that has the distincttion of being quoted in English history. “Her sire was blood, -and blood her dam, and all her pedigree.” Romantic old castles, ghosts, secret panels and such delightful ingredients go to the making of “Dick Turpin’s Ride ti> York,” a. romance of the good old ciays when the second George* was king.As for Dick Turpin himself, and Bess,' his bonnie black mare, you have never yet seen, nor ever vail see again, such a brave, handsome pair as in Dick Turpin’s Ride to York,” a triumph of screen art, opening to-night at the Opera House.
