At an inquest on Richard Albert Chudley, night- watchman on the steamer Maori, who fell into the harbour, a verdict of accidental death was returned. The coroner expressed approval of the conduct of William Morgan, a Avatersider, xvho jumped in and pulled deceased to the 'wharf. It xya.s, he said, unfortunate that the man had not been saved, but that was no fault of Morgan, who did all he could under the circumstances.
