The Prime Minister expressed a more hopeful opinion regarding the Sphalanger consumption treatment that was given by Dr Izard, according to a cable this week. A petition had been presented to the House yesterday urging the importance of the matter, and a member remarked to the Premier: “What have you done?” ”1 am fully impressed with the~ importance of having a remedy for tuberculosis, ” replied Mr Massey, “and in that connection I took ah opportunity of looking into it is so far as it is possible, for a layman to do it. I don’t pretend to have a knowledge of medical subjects, but I went into it with the man himself, and am convinced that if: there is a. man in this world who has a cure for consumption that man is Sphalanger. Professor Molgaard has discovered a treatment for tuberculosis by injecting a gold solution coupled with a serum to counter-attack the poisonous effects of the gold. He asserts that 300 patients, including chronic cases, have been cured The professor admits that the treatment will possibly hasten death in desperate cases.
