AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.

FIRST ROYAL SHOW. AX HISTORICAL EVENT. Now that the inauguration of Royal Shows in the Dominion ..is an accomplished fact, it is daily becoming more apparent that the. first “Royal.” which takes place at Palmerston North on November 4, o and 6, will certainly be a success from the point of an exhibition of stock, which of course will be the principal attraction at this fixture. The catalogues, which are how in the hands ot the printers, show that there are over two thousand entries in this section, including a fair proportion of the ? So.uth Island, and the exhibition includes quite a number of animals which have left their marks in the showrings cf both islands, so that visitors gau look forward with confidence to a meeting of champions such as has neyer before been seen iii any show ring in th.e Dominion, and this alone should be sufficient inducement to- bring breeders from all parts of New Zealand to the show. The Palmerston North Grounds are now replete for the dccommodation of what it is claimed will lie the larg est and best exhibition of stock ever held in the Dominion, and these will lie exhibited under the most favourable conditions, and they wilt be judged by acknowledged experts, including several who-, have adjudicated n.t the Sydney Royal and other shows m Australia. STRATFORD. Tlie fifteenth annual show of the Stratford A. and P. Association will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, November 26 and 27. The schedule shows that a splendid variety of classes has been provided, these numbering altogether 235. Included are horse events and competitions, pedigree cattle, grade and cross-bred battle, to which special attention has been "given by the committee. The sheep and pig classes have- been re r vised and special attention'has been given to- the requirements of flock sheep, of which there are a considerable number in the district. The industrial section was one of the features of the 1923' show*, and this year it lias been considerably added'to, many improvements having been made, thus keeping abreast with'the trend or modern home-craft. The junior section has received a great deal of consideration at _ the hands of a special copimittee which was set up. In drawing up this section of the schedule the committee paid special attention to the work being undertaken in Taranaki schools, and this department of the, show .should prove to be one of the most interesting displays seen in the province. Those interested in any particular section are asked to communicate with the secretary, Mr. A. ■T. Barr, box 59, Stratford, wlio will he pleased to give any information desired and will also forward schedules on application.
