TEMPERANCE LAW.

DECISION IN ONTARIO. BT CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT-. OTTAWA, Oct. 26. Five years ago Ontario adopted tem- ' perance legislation by a majority of .400,000, but the sentiment in favour of the sale of Government stores, the same as Quebec and British Columbia, has been growing. The new votes taken resulted in a decision to retain the legislation by 30,000. The cities voted overwhelmingly “wet” and the country “dry.” The Government is now faced with a quandary. With the cities demanding liquor, making it almost impossible to administer the “dry” laws, some form of local oution may be inaugurated.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
