SUPPLY OF FLOUR.
FURTHER EVIDENCE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, Oct. 29. At the Supreme Court the hearing was resumed of the flour milling case (referred to on page 10 under the heading “Supply of Flour.” Evidence was called by the Crown. Peter Waldemar Fitly, manager of the Tirnaru Milling Co., stated that his company was a party to an agreement with Distributors, Ltd., prior to the Government control. The mill’s output was 8000 or 9000 tons annually. The capacity allotted to the mill under the agreement was 6500 tons, very much less than the actual capacity. The distribution cost increased as a result of the connection with Distributors, Ltd., Before this association was formed their commission was 21 per cent. Under the new arrangement the figures were 31 and 21 per cent. A free market gave better flour, and there would be advantage in price if Distributers, Limited, were abolished. Southern mills have some difficulty in selling flour at the same price as northern mills.
