PATIENT’S ADMISSION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. PALMERSTON N., Oct. 29. The Commission of Inquiry into certain complaints made in connection with the Palmerston North hospital was conducted before Mr. Page, S.M., of Wellington. The inquiry was held to deal with the circumstances of the admission on June 9, 1923, of Jessie Bryce, daughter of J. J. Bryce, farmer, Kiwitea, to the hospital, her treatment in the institution, and discharge from hospital.

The inquiry was the result of persistent complaints made by Mr. Bryce relative to the admission, treatment, and discharge from hospital of his daughter, and other matters which the Commission were called upon to enquire into the attitude of Dr. Barnett, honorary surgeon at the hospital, and the action of the board in delaying and objecting to enquiry into Mr. Bryce’s allegations.
