DYING GIFT.

IRISH EXECUTION DRAMA. MINISTER’S FRIEND. LONDON, Oct. 2. Winding up the debate on the Irish Treaty Amendment Bill, Mr Thomas (Colonial Secretary) appealed for the support of those loyal to* the treaty. He declared that the Free State had done everything possible to secure fulfilment, even carrying out 80 executions, in which the Cabinet had not spared even its friends. Amongst those executed was one who had been best man at the wedding "of Mr Kevin O’Higgins (Free State Vice-President) three months previously. Mr O’Higgins refused a reprieve, saying that he must do his duty. When the condemned man’s will was opened it disclosed that he had left everything to Mr O’Higgins.
