“NOTHING NEW.”

FOLDING BED IN TOMB. “There is nothing new under the sun.” There has recently been found in an Egyptian tomb a" folding bed which is calculated to be at least 4000 years old. Judging by collateral evidence, the Egyptians evidently considered a folding bed to he a valuable and precious possession. There lias also been found in Egypt, at the same time, a hunk used on the Nile boats 4000 years ago. Its interest to us lies in the fact that it does not differ materially from a stateroom berth installed in one' of the “ocean greyhounds” today. It appears, too, that not even the vanity bags so loved by ladies in these days are new. 'Searching tombs in the ruins of the ancient colony of Olbia, which existed near Odessa in the fifth century before Christ, a Russian archaeologist has discovered a small hag, apparently of linen, containing the remains" of a metal mirror, as well as. a stick of lip rouge and a pencil for darkening the eyebroks!
