Mr. Fred Jones, of Kobare, a former member of the Clifton County Council, is rather ,seriously ill in the New Plymouth Hospital. Mr. T. S; Hickey, of Opunake, has been appointed editor of the Northland Age and general manager of the Mangomii Publishing Co., Ltd. k' Kennedy, of Stratford and Tahora, has been approached to stand for the vacant seat on the Taranaki Education Board caused by the resignation of' Mr. R. Masters, M.P., and: he has consented to do so. Mr! Kennedy has had long previous experience on that board, having resigned in 1914 to visit Great Britain. The Taranaki Circular Road Race Committee, at a meeting on Thursday night, passed a resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. W. Foster, who was drowned as the result of a dinghy capsizing off Kawaroa Park on Wednesday afternoon. The late Mr. Foster was an old cyclist and was training a number of riders for Saturday’s big race.
