BANKRUPT DIVORCEE.

PUBLIC EXAMINATION. (by telegraph—press association. WELLINGTON. Oct. 24. The fixture for the public examination of George Vance Shannon, a bankrupt, at the Supreme Court- u-oay fell through because 7 it was stated that bankrupt was farming up the Wanganui River 160 miles from* Pipiriki, and could not get away owing- to floods. The bankruptcy arose over a divorce action in which £ISOO damages were awarded the petitioner, Neallio Sarcich,* and a public examination was ordered. Counsel for Sarcich said Shannon was served with the summons eleven days'ago-, and his information was that there was no flood in the river to stop him getting to Wellington. He was living with jVh's Sarcich. What petitioner wanted to know was what had become of over £2OOO that Knnunon had in the hank prior tc- his bankruptcy. Counsel for Shannon asked for an adjournment, and the Chief Justice adjourned the case to December 3. Sarcich, who was in Court, remarked to his Honor that he was giving this young man too much time.
