ENTERTAINMENTS

OPERA HOUSE, TO-NIGHT. “YOU CAN’T GET AWAY WITH IT.” It isn’t often that a screen actor firmly establishes himself by a single performance, but this seems to ha*e been the sort of success registered by Percy, Marmont, who starred in the i<ox production of the novel by A. S. M. Hutchinson, “If Winter Comes.” Marinont’s interpretation of ‘’Puzzlehead” Mark Sabre was a revelation. Now, Marmont appears in the leading male role in “You Can’t Get Away With It,” from the novel bv Gouverneur' Morris, which opens at the Opera House to-night. And his performance is no less creditable. Betty Boulton has the role of the girl who tries to break the conventions with him. The picture is a remarkable explanation of why they can’t set away with it. Malcolm McGregor and others in a capable cast lend them clever support. The story, dealing with a man and a girl who risk the world’s censure for love, is intensely human and wins sympathy for them along with the “I told you so” chorus which accompanies the grim warning, “You Can’t- Get Away With It.” An excellent supporting programme will he presented, including the 15th round of “The Leather Pushers.” EMPRESS PICTURES, NGRMANBY, TO-NIGHT. A BIG THRILLER, The aeroplane has superseded the galloping broncho and the dashing racing car as the adventurer’s steed. Lester Cuneo’s latest starring vehiem, “Trapped in the Air,” shows him as a gallant aeronaut, meeting dramatic adventures, overcoming tremendous odds, and winning the love of a wonderful girl. Gone is the glorious West of yester-year—but its glories still remain to-day in Nature’s handiwork and the spirit of its men. Both of these are seen in their finest embodiments in “Trapped in the Air,” starring Lester Cuneo, to be shown at the Empress Pictures, Nornianby, to.nig.t when will also be shown another thi'illmg episode of “Hurricane Hutch” and a special Sunshine comedy. Prices as usual.
