GRAND THEATRE TO-NIGHT. “QUEEN OF THE MOULIN ROUGE.” No one need express surprise at the hnte Martha MansfielS’s splendid portrayal of the title role in “Queen of the Moulin Rouge,” a Master Picture. The role fits her like a glove because in it she appears as a. dancer; and as such she shone in the glittering revues and extravaganzas of Broadway. After her debut on the screen the late Martha Mansfield played one role after another. Even when she was lured to the. vaudeville stage the camera beckoned and she found its call resistless. But of all these roles none was ever so eminently suited to her personality and training as the part of Rosalie An jou, the maiden of Normandy, who danced in a notorious cafe in the Paris underworld that the boy she loved might achieve fame. The supporting programme includes an excellent comedy “Plumb Crazy,” featuring Bobbie Vernon, an interesting Australian scenic, and the latest Pathe News. KAPONGA PICTURES TO-MORROW NTGHT. “THE ACQUITTAL.” Every reviewer has declared that, “The Acquittal,” showing to-morrow night, is the finest, detective story ever placed upon the screen. Andrew Prentice, was found dead and the whole story turns upon the discovery of the murderer. For various reasons six different persons were suspected, each of whom in endeavouring to avoid suspicion deepened it. The. result is that the solution is deeply hidden in a series of false trails and comes as a surprise to all at the completion of the picture. An excellent cast has been gathered, including Claire Windsor and Norman Kerry, to do justice to this excellent picture.
