N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.
FORMED. At a meeting of settlers in the Mangaimngi, district, it was decided tc form a branch of the union. Mr Hardwick Smith was elected president and Mr Percy Brown secretary. A fail number of members were enrolled. Yesterday after the meeting of the Dog Trial Club, Mr L. H. Me Alpine, organiser for the union, addressed the members, and as a result enrolled a number of additional members. Mr Hardwick - Smith briefly introduced Mr McAipine, and urged all to join. His remarks were endorsed by Mr L. E. .Jackson, who said he was one of the original members of the union in the Dominion, and was convinced of the great benefits to be derived by membership. He stressed the good results already accomplished bv the union. Mr McAipine, after thanking the president for the privilege of being present, urged the imperative need of the union, and referred to the efforts Being made in the Dominion in the direction of an agricultural bank. He again urged the confident opinion of the leaders that unless the union could speak Avitli! one voice, backed up by all farmers, they would never achieve their aims and objects. This, he added in conclusion, \yas the strongest Mert for asking all farmers to 'join the-'union •and so help forward the aims of the leaders. A vote of thanks to the chairman and the organiser for his address concluded the meeting.
