COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING. WORK OF THE MONTH. The Stratford County Council met on Saturday. Present: Councillors E. Walter (chairman), W. H. Were, .J Jacobsen, M. Davis, S. Pitt, S. Parker. T. R, Anderson, J, O’Neill, J. T. Belcher. The engineer (Mr J. W. Spence) included the following in his report:— Soutfi. Riding.—-General maintenance work has been done on the Bird, Skinner, Wingro.ve, -Cheat and F'innerty -Rqads. It was found necessary tq place further blinding on the tarred portions of the Cheal Road. West Riding. The metalled approaches to the new bridge on Opunake No. 3 Road have been blinded with bank gravel. Sixteen 9in. pipes have been placed on the Waingongoro Road where a washout had occurred. This part of the road has given trouble from time to time, but the extra- set of pipes should remedy this. Willotvs and scrub have beep cut at the ends of WaiUgongoyo Bridge, Opunake Road, This has considerably opened up the road view. Metal banking and water-tabling have been done on the following roads : Finnerty, Hastings, Opunake, Manaia, Palmer and Rowan Roads. ,
