SAVES HIS COMPANION. / FIGHT WITH A SHARK. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 20, 9.30 a.m MELBOURNE, Oct.'2o. One of a number of boys who were bathing at Port. Melbourne was attacked by a 10ft. shark, which tore the flesh from his leg. A companion named Gordon Smith, without undressing, jumped into the water and attacked the shark with a penknife. Feeling the slash the fish swam away. Smith brought the wounded lad ashore and rendered first aid.
