STRATFORD RACING CLUB.

MONTHLY MEETING. The regular monthly meeting of tfye general committee wjas held on Tuesday last, there being present: Messrs S. Pitt (chairman), H. E. Abraham, D. J. Malone, J. Fredric, W. P. ■ Kirkwood, A. Stewart, V. Smith' Apology received from Mr. F. Whittle, and leave of absence for the meeting granted. Correspondence appertaining to extra permit was read and received. Mr. Kirkwood reported on behalf of the vigilance, committee that his committee is keeping closely in touch with the matter, but nothing special to . report at this stage. The matter of painting buildings prior to race meeting was discussed. It was resolved that provided satisfactory aiTangements are made buildings be painted. A subcommittee, consisting of Messrs. Abiiaham and Fredric, was set up to consider the matter and report at next regular meeting of the general committee. On behalf of the programme committee the chairman presented tfce proposed programme for Ist and 2nd January, 1925. Total stakes offered £3BOO, no race to be worth less than £150: The stake for the Stratford Cun Handicap has been increased to £750, second horse to receive £l5O, third horse £75 from the stakes. The next principal race for the first day's events is the Douglas Handicap of £3OO, second horse to receive £6O, third horse £3O from the stake. In the second day’s programme the principal race is the M'alone Memorial Handicap; stake increased to £450, second horse to receive £9O,- third horse £45 from tlie stake. The second principal race for the second day's events is the Ngaere Handicap of £2BO, . second horse to receive £SO, third horse £25 from the stake. Nominations for all events close Monday, December 8, at the secretary’s office at 9 p.m. Weights fqr the first day’s events will be declared on or about Monday, December 15. Weight® for the second day’s events will be declared on Thursday, January 1, 1925, at 8 p.m. Acceptances for first day’s events will close on Saturday, ..December 27, 1924, at 9 p.m. Acceptances for second day’s events will close on Thursday, January 1, 1925, at 9 p.m. The. committee was congratulated on the excellent programme : presented, and after a short discussion the programme was adopted with instructions to submit same to the district committee for approval. Recommendations arising from a special meeting of the generial committee which was held on the racecourse on Thursday, September 18, were dealt with. It was resolved, that tenders be invited for the metalling of taxi track and Tybalt Street. The matter of formulating conditions arid taking necessary action in connection with tenders wa® left in the hands of a sub-committee .consisting of the 'chairman and Mr. Stewart with power to act. Other recommendations adopted were as follows : Construction of temporary footpath between race track and motor road from taxi track to turnstiles, footpath to have light coat of gravel. E r ection of man-proof fence, preferably .six-foot wire netting,: from golf house to junction with motor paddtfck. Erection of three turnstiles- and one members’ gate in space between trees opposite present gravelled circle; one ticket box to be used as a change window. - Man or men to be stationed on motor road near seven furlongs post selling car tickets only, such tickets to be collected at entrance of motor .paddock. Membery? to be admitted free to members’ motor naddockon production of member’s ticket. It was resolved that a special space be ret aside in motor paddock for members’ cars and parking of cars in present members’ paddock to be discontinued. It was resolved thla.t admission to lawns be by ticket. The matter of purchasing turnstiles was left in the hands of a sub-committee consisting of the chairman and Mr. Fredric, with nower to act. Mr. J. G. Nichol, of Stratford, ’wa.s elected an active member. The chairman and Mr. Stewart were appointed .as a sub-committee and empowered to. carry out the work referred to in the foregoing' recommendations. Fencing of Tybalt Street was discussed and deferred. Accounts amounting to £9 8s 6d were passed for payment.
