TENNIS.

(From Our Own Correspondent). MANGATOKI CLUB. The annual meeting of the Mangatold Tennis Club was held on Tuesday evening, September 30, there being a good attendance of members. The president, M;r E. Colson, was in the chair. In his address the - president congratulated the club on the success of the past season, and also on its financial position, the excess assets over liabilities being £27 2s 4d. .This was the best shown for many years. He expressed appreciation of the work of several members in connection with a concert and dance, and the annual tennis ball, both contributing largely to the club’s funds. During the off season the court’s Were overhauled, and should this year be in better playing order than ever. The following officers for the eiiensuing year were then elected: President, Mr E. Colson; vice-president, Mr E. Reeve; secretary and treasurer, Air H. D, Lambie; general committee, Airs A. Grant, Aliss AY. Astbury, Messrs C. Astburv and 37 P. Alarx; grounds committee, Alessrs J. P. Marx and G. R. Nicholas; club captain, H. D. Lambie. It was decided to arrange a handicap - tournamenta on the club’s official opening day, the date being Thursday, October 23rd, the club extending an invitation to all neighbouring clubs to take part. A very successful meeting then terminated with a hearty vote of f hanks to the chairman and secretary.
