The council of the Trade Union Congress voted £IOOO for the Labour Party election publicity fund, and appeal to unions to make special grants to the Labour Party fighting fund. Mr Baldwin is going to Taunton from London to-day. He declared that he was much encouraged by the reports from all parts of the country. He is confident that, provided Conservatives turned up to vofe on polling day, success is certain. Labour is springing surprises, nominating numerous candidates with the object of spoiling Liberals’ chances in-straight-out fights with' Conservatives. Mr. Baldwin is opposed at Bewdley, though the Liberals are withdrawing.
