FINAL ESCAPE
GAOL-BREAKER’S LAST ATTEMPT. SHOT BY POLICEMAN. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPY'EIGHT. Received Oct. 18, 11.2’0 a.m. ADELAIDE, Oct 18. A noted gaol-breaker, William Digby, who twice last week escaped from custody at Port Lincoln, made another attempt last night. A policeman was taking him to a yard, when he dashed off. The policeman followed, firing his revolver. One of the shots lodged in Digby’s stomach, and he died shortly afterwards.
