EXCHANGE RATES.
QUESTION AGAIN BEFORE THE HOUSE. (By Telegraph—Special to the Star.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 15. The attention of the Premier rvas called by the member for Egmont to the arrangement by the Associated Banks in Australia to improve the exchange position. Mr Hawken suggested that the matter would he worth investigation with a view to relieving the handicap now placed on producers of daily products and wool. Mr Massey assured the questioner that he had been watching the Australian position, and it was a pretty long story, if he told it all. He was not going adversely to criticise our neighbour. They had done their best to keep down the rate of exchange, but the result was that to-day exchange was higher between Australia and’ London than between New Zealand and London. ’ Mr Wilford: Yes, by per cent. Mr Massey concurred.
