INFURIATED ELEPHANT
ESCAPES FROM CIRCUS. PEOPLE TERRIFIED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 15, 11 a.m. HOBART, Oct. 15. The escape of a large elephant from a circus during a storm which almost drove the animals frantic with fear is causing consternation here. Several keepers and many pedestrians and motorists joined the chase after the infuriated animal without effecting its capture. People are terrified, and ftars are entertained that it may do damage.
