PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held in the Plunket' Rooms on Friday. There were present: M.esdames Goodson (chair), .Godfrey, Haggett, Campbell, .Winks, Bone, McCormack, Taifc (treasurer), and Miss King (secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames Graves, Jobson, Hunter, Bright and Miss Corrigan. The nurse’s report was read and adopted, showing: New cases for the month (mothers and babies) 64, mothers and babies to rooms 741, 'nurse’s visits to homes 308.

The president moved a vote of sympathy with Mrs Jobson, and the secretary was instructed to write. ! As a result of the benefit night of •‘Our Miss Gibbs” given by the Hawera Operatic Society, to be divided between the hospital and the Plunket Society, the committee have received £3O. The committee are very grateful for this help, and wish to thank all who took part in making it such a success. They also appreciate the, kind hospitality of Messrs Gillanders and Bone in entertaining at supper the society and the hospital and Plunket Committee, and making such a happy end to the benefit night.

A letter of appreciation was received from the. Stratford Plunket Society that Nurse Dix had been able to relieve Nurse Baker at Eltham. A letter was received from the Picton branch. They have compiled a cookery book to raise funds for their branch, and anyone wishing for one can. get it through the Hawera secretary; price 2s Gd. The following subscriptions were received : Mr T. Winks l()s, Mesdames Flack, Nicholas, A. Corrigan 5s each, Mrs Harley 2« 6d, hire of hoop-la £1 10s, Opium-Ice sub-branch £l9 10s, Operatic Society £3O. Accounts to the amount of £79 19s 8d were passed for payment.
