OHAWE BEACH.
ROAD IMPROVEMENTS. FRESH ROUTE TAKEN. The improvements and the alterations made on the Beach road were referred to by the chairman at the Hawera County meeting on Saturday. He said that they had inspected the position with the engineer, and had agreed that it would he futile to keep to the old route near the cliff, where erosion was bringing the cliff dangerously near to the road. They had therefore decided to open the unused public road which went up through the settlement and gave a good grade the whole way. They had power, and would therefore prohibit heavy traffic on the new road, and consequently when they were able they would need a much lighter metalling than if heavy traffic used the road. It would be a cheap proposition for the county. It would be very satisfactory for the residents, and all would get more advantages ind great benefit from the carrying out of the scheme.
