TENNIS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) mokoia club. The opening of the local tennis courts ror the .season eventuated on Wednesday afternoon, when there was a o-ood muster of players. The weather was not too good, but the rain held off and some good games were witnessed. The ladies provided afternoon tea and a very enjoyable time was spent. There will be a special attraction this season m the form of silver challenge buttons, ladies and gentlemen, and much useful practice should result to the players. Last- season the club was very successful in its matches with nei<dtbourinir clubs, nnd there is no reason why they should not uphold the honoiirs this year with the players at command ; but, of course, they‘will require to get in a fair amount of practice to do so. The dance held recently in aid of funds for the club was very successful and enjoyable socially, and though the cash returns were not of a large order,., still, considering all the outside attractions, there was a satisfactory balance.
