EXCHANGE RATE.

FEDERATION OF FACTORIES URGES REDUCTION.

The following telegram has been sent to the Prime Minister by Mr T. A. Winks (chairman of the Federation of Co-operative Dairy Factories): “The Federation of Co-operative Dairy Factories of Taranaki view with alarm and desire to emphatically protest against the action of the Associated Banks increasing the rate of bank exchange on drafts, which amounts to a tax of approximately five-eighths of a pound butter-fat upon producers, whose burdens are already oppressive, and respectfully urge the" Government to take action to obtain a reduction of the rate.”

Similar telegrams were sent to Messrs O. J. Hawken and J. R. Corrigan, M.P.’s, asking them to cooperate.
