LADIES’ SHOES LOST. (by TELEGRAPH-—T'vrn'fip iSSOOI vnON ' AUCKLAND. Oct. 7. When the steamer Norfolk was at Auckland in June a case of ladies-' shoes disappeared. For some time it was thought that the case had been shortlanded, but in July Detective McHugh and Sergeant Flanagan obtained a clue which showed that the shoes had been landed. The officers searched many premises, and, it is understood, discovered some - of the shoes. This morning James Manning, aged 35, appeared before Mr. Poynton, S.M-. charged with the theft, on or about June 15, of a case containing 72 pairs of ladies’ shoes, valued at £l5O 18s sd, the property of the New Zealand Shipping Company. Accused was remanded till Monday.
