OFF THE LINE.

MISHAP AT ELTHAM RAILWAY YARDS. The train which usually" reaches Hawera, at 7.46 p.m. each evening was delayed at Eltham for nearly an hour and a half last night. During shunting operations the bogey wheels jumped the points and derailed part of the engine, damaging the forecarriage. After examination it wa s found that it would take considerable time to place the engine properly on the metals again; and it was decided to send to Hawera for an engine to take the train over the remainder of its journey. By 8.35 p.m. the train wag ready to proceed, and reached ITawera at a few minutes after 9 o’clock. The other engine was restored to the line and was later able to come to Hawera.
