Three men were repairing the electric wires on a railway bridge at Kaiwanra when a train came along. One man clung to a pillar and escaped, but the others jumped to the road 20ft. below. K. Andrews, foreman, broke a leo- and injured his head, and E. Hoilier had two ribs broken. Several car and bike accidents are also reported, including one in which Lewis Murphy, aged 12, was knocked down by a car and injured to such an extent that his condition is not regarded as satisfactory.
