TWO MEN KILLED. (EY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WAIPUKURAU, Oct. 6. An inquest on two workmen crushed to death by a falling girder at the new town hall building last week was opened before the coroner (Mr Saunders) this morning. L. Batson, a single man, and F. Halswell, a married man, were the victims. The relatives of deceased were represented by counsel, as were the contractors and the Borough Council. A workman who saw the whole affair said the girder slowly sagged and collapsed. Lengthy evidence is likely.
