Prohibition officials claim to haA*e uncovered a gigantic Anglo-American rum-running conspiracy, with ten million dollars involved. The tAvin-screAv British steamer Frederick B. Avas toAved into harbour with a creAv of' twenty-eight men and tAvo Avomen under armed guard, and A\‘ith half a million dollar cargo of liquor. Free Government agents made the capture after bargaining for 25,000 cases of Avhisky from the vessel’s master, paying £IOO,OOO for it. Mr. William Walker, leader of the “dry” forces, asserted that hankers in the United States and Great Britain are concerned in the conspiracy AWASHINGTON, Oct. 3. Mr. W. B. Wheeler, counsel for the Anti-saloon League, has charged the French Wines Exportation Commission with redoubling its efforts in the political campaign to get Avet' candidates elected. He says, in an article : “Confessing the activities in Canada, the commissioner stated that part of its programme . includes furnishing funds at the right moment.”
