The lieAvs of Hussein’s abdication was preceded by a message from Reuter’s Jeddah correspondent, stating that a committee of the leading'inhabitants of Jeddah and Mecca, demanded a; dissolution of the Mashimite Government, headed by Hussein, and the succession of a temporary Government for the protection of the country to be appointed bv Hedjazites, avlio are ready to conform to the orders of the Avhote Moslem world. He declared that they did not wish to fight anyone, and appealed to the world to stop the present hostilities.
