Concerning the rejection ot cue Ne Temere Lin, it is stated that the Premier and the majority ot Ministers will oppose any move to hold an election tins year on the issue. One .Minister expressed tlie opinion that ultimately tne Cabinet would probably uecide to make live or six appointments to the Legislative Council; lurtner, that. early next year a short, session would be held, wnen the Bill will be re-introduced, having passed all - its stages in the Lower House. Then if the Council again rejected it an appeal would be made -to the electors. MARRIAGE AMENDMENT. SYDNEY, Oct. 4. The Premier and other Ministers decline to discuss the position created by the Legislative Council throwing out the Marriage Amendment Bill, but .are apparently not unduly troubled over the result, consideration of the question being left over till, the nejct regular meeting of Cabinet oh. Tuesday. Various suggestions were mooted to overcome che difficulty, one of which, it is understood, is receiving considerable support, belling the introduction of another Bill making the civil ceremony before a State official, the only form of marriage recognised,- but any religious ceremony the contracting parties might desire could be performed later.
