FAVOURABLE BALANCE.
EXPORT SURPLUS £7,000,000. EIGHT MONTHS’ RETURNS. The trade returns for August allow that there were increases in the export of primary products, with the exception of frozen beef, hides, tallow, coal, and kauri gum. There was an increase of over 30 per cent in the total export for the month. There were large importations of wheat, oats, and sugar, while motor spirit largely increased.
