Protests are to be. made by the Board of Governors of the Auckland Grammar Schools against the proposed change in the form of control of secondary and technical schools, which are to be placed under the contra! of a single board. The. Board took-strong exception to the clause relating to the transfer to a single board of the property rights and liabilities of existing boards. .The chairman stated that the Board interpreted the.clause as representing virtuaL confiscation. The Bill proposed to invest the Minister with more power than should be given any individual member of the Government. The Board resolve to protest against the Auckland Grammar School Board being included under the terms of the new legislation and to request that the four chief centres be exempted from its provisions.
