LIGHT AIRPLANES COMPETE. ■ ■ LONDON, Sept. 30. The Lympne light aeroplanes’ competition were hampered' by unfavourable weather. The chief notable performance was that of an Australian (Hinkler) in an Avro Avis aeroplane which, though disqualified from competition as not having been ready in time, reached an altitude of 4000 feet during the morning, constituting a record at this meeting.
